Geotechnical Reports and Evaluations

Alta prepares all types of geotechnical reports and evaluations including due diligences, preliminary geotechnical investigations, Alquist-Priolo fault investigations, and grading plan reviews. Topics typically included in these reports are site descriptions, geologic conditions, seismic evaluations, engineering characteristics, geotechnical recommendations, foundation design recommendations, and slope stability evaluations. These reports are suitable for use in cost estimates, bid documents, and submittal to governing agencies.

Site Investigations

Our principals and staff are highly experienced in performing site investigations in various geologic conditions. Equipment regularly utilized during our subsurface investigations include hollow-stem, bucket auger, air-track, CPT, and flight auger drill rigs, backhoes, excavators, and seismic refraction surveys. Specialized investigations that can be performed by Alta include fault investigations, and liquefaction, rippability, and slope evaluations.

Foundation Design Recommendations

Alta’s staff works with the project structural engineer to develop cost effective foundation designs. Recommendations are prepared in accordance with the current building codes based on the onsite geotechnical conditions.

Pavement Design Recommendations

Pavement design recommendations are prepared in accordance with Caltrans and local governing agency requirements.

Observation and Testing of Grading

Alta employs highly experienced technicians to observe and test mass grading operations. Our project managers and principals take an active part in grading operations and are available for onsite consultations. Both our offices are fully equipped to handle mass grading operations.
